Project Engineer - Building Group

Job Summary

Kiewit Building Group is seeking a senior-level Project Engineer to support industrial building and data center work from planning through closeout. The position offers a path toward project management with mentoring and responsibility across multiple projects.

Project Details

Assignments support data center and other vertical construction projects in the Santa Teresa, New Mexico, and Abilene, Texas, areas. Kiewit’s building portfolio includes industrial facilities, offices, education and sports facilities, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing, retail, transportation, and tenant improvements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee subcontractor compliance, quality, field conditions, and corrective actions.
• Interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents while coordinating field implementation.
• Build and maintain master schedules with project management and field teams.
• Control drawings and contract documentation, evaluate design changes, and support project closeout.
• Prepare monthly cost forecasts and quarterly cash-flow projections.
• Recommend operational improvements and supervise or train junior engineers and project personnel.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, construction engineering, or a related equivalent discipline.
• At least five years of construction or engineering experience; vertical construction experience is preferred.
• At least two years managing engineers and project subcontractors.
• Ability to review plans, specifications, and contract documents for discrepancies.
• Strong communication, organization, initiative, teamwork, and safety focus.
• Ability to travel, relocate, work overtime or weekends when required, and perform reliably across changing jobsite conditions.
