Mechanical Commissioning Superintendent

Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Superintendent to lead safe, high-quality commissioning and turnover activities for major mechanical systems on complex industrial projects.

Project Details

The Kiewit Industrial District supports large-scale data centers and mission-critical facilities, including mechanical systems and related power, cooling, water, utility, and infrastructure work across the United States.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily safety meetings and enforce mechanical safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and permitting requirements.
• Direct pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, functional testing, system walk-downs, and turnover for pumps, piping, HVAC, rotating equipment, and other mechanical systems.
• Coordinate craft teams, engineering, construction, vendors, original equipment manufacturers, and operations personnel.
• Identify deficiencies, troubleshoot system issues, track readiness milestones, and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain commissioning checklists, test records, redlines, and turnover documentation.
• Work overtime and weekends when project demands require it.

Required Experience

• Experience commissioning large-scale mechanical systems such as HVAC, hydronic and process cooling systems, piping, pumps, rotating equipment, and mechanical infrastructure.
• Ability to lead craft teams through testing, system readiness, and turnover activities.
• Familiarity with completions software and commissioning workflow processes.
• A degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is preferred, though equivalent field experience may qualify.
• Strong planning, coordination, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Reliable attendance, safe work practices, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively across changing project locations.
