Job Summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking a senior Lead Electrical Engineer to direct electrical design work for nuclear, DOE, power generation, and other highly regulated industrial projects. The role combines technical leadership, design oversight, multidisciplinary coordination, and field support.

Project Details

Projects span commercial nuclear facilities, small modular reactors, DOE science and security programs, power generation, and complex industrial infrastructure. The position may be based in Lenexa, Kansas; Houston, Texas; Knoxville, Tennessee; Itasca, Illinois; or another location aligned with project needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering designs, reviews, calculations, specifications, drawings, and design packages.
• Direct AC and DC power system studies, including short circuit, protective coordination, arc flash, voltage drop, motor starting, and load flow analyses.
• Develop electrical distribution, grounding, lighting, communications, security, and related infrastructure designs.
• Mentor engineers and designers while maintaining quality, budget, schedule, and code compliance.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, civil, instrumentation and controls, construction, clients, contractors, and vendors.
• Review supplier proposals and submittals, support procurement, and manage technical vendor questions.
• Provide construction, startup, testing, commissioning, walkdown, and field design support.
• Support planning, proposals, resource forecasting, technical reviews, and project risk and scope management.

Required Experience

• 10–15+ years of electrical engineering experience in commercial nuclear, DOE, power generation, or complex industrial facilities.
• Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary electrical design efforts; technical or discipline lead experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of low- and medium-voltage distribution equipment and protection systems.
• Proficiency with ETAP or comparable power system analysis software and familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, Navisworks, or similar tools.
• Working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and nuclear design requirements.
• Professional Engineer license required, or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
• Strong communication, mentoring, organization, quality, safety, and collaboration skills.

Compensation and Benefits

Base compensation is $143,000–$149,000 per year. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, wellness, employee assistance, life and disability insurance, retirement plans with matching, and paid time off.
