Job Summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is hiring a mid-level Electrical Design Engineer to support conventional and nuclear design work, collaborating with engineering, fabrication, construction, vendors, and clients. The position is based in Lenexa, Kansas, or Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Project Details

The team delivers engineering, project management, and construction solutions across the nuclear market, including nuclear power, small modular reactors, Department of Energy programs, and related industrial work.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review AC/DC power system studies in ETAP, including short-circuit, voltage-drop, arc-flash, motor-starting, and relay-coordination analyses.
• Develop equipment specifications, support bid evaluations, and coordinate vendor questions and responses.
• Prepare engineering scopes and design packages and conduct constructability reviews.
• Design and review lighting, communications, security, and low- and medium-voltage distribution systems.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors, and construction personnel.
• Travel to project sites and stakeholder offices for design reviews and construction coordination.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• At least five years of electrical system design experience on industrial or nuclear power plant projects.
• Experience selecting electrical equipment and materials and preparing calculations, specifications, and design packages.
• Knowledge of transformers, generators, motors, relays, and low- and medium-voltage distribution systems.
• PE license or ability to obtain one.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and careful attention to detail.

Compensation and Benefits
