Job Summary

Kiewit Power Constructors is seeking an HDPE subject matter expert and welding engineering specialist to lead technical quality activities for welding, joining, fabrication, and industrial piping systems.

Project Details

The role supports union-built power generation and solar farm EPC projects across North America, with assignments relocating according to project needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and govern welding and HDPE fusion procedures, qualifications, inspection requirements, and technical documentation.
• Provide field and fabrication support to construction, engineering, QA/QC, inspection, and commissioning teams.
• Evaluate joining and welding issues, guide repairs and corrective actions, and support NDE/NDT and nonconformance resolution.
• Maintain weld maps, fusion records, qualification files, traceability materials, reports, and turnover documentation.
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, third-party inspectors, and project teams while providing technical mentorship.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in welding, materials, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
• At least five years of industrial welding experience involving procedures, qualifications, fabrication, or quality control.
• Working knowledge of ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, ASME Section I, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, and NM.1 requirements.
• Experience with WPS, PQR, welder qualification records, HDPE piping, and ASTM F2620 butt fusion.
• Knowledge of industrial welding processes, metallurgy, materials, inspection criteria, drawings, specifications, and repair methods.
• Ability to travel, work at changing project locations, meet deadlines, and work overtime or weekends when needed.
• Preferred credentials include AWS CWI or CWE, along with experience in power, utility-scale energy, EPC, regulated industrial, QA/QC, or commissioning environments.
