Fire Alarm Designer / Project Manager - Continental Fire Protection

Job Summary

Continental Fire Protection is seeking a Fire Alarm Designer / Project Manager in Omaha to design, coordinate, and support installation of fire alarm and detection systems. This mid-level role combines technical design, project coordination, field engineering, commissioning, and client communication.

Project Details

The position supports fire protection work on building construction projects, including preparation of code-based fire alarm submittals, installation drawings, battery calculations, material lists, testing, and commissioning. Industrial and power project experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design fire alarm and detection systems and prepare shop, field installation, as-built, and material submittal drawings.
• Coordinate designs with building structures, architectural plans, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing subcontractors.
• Develop material stocklists, support procurement and fabrication, and track quantities, costs, and schedules.
• Provide jobsite field engineering, troubleshoot installation conflicts, and support installation operations.
• Manage communications with general contractors, architects, engineers, clients, and authorities having jurisdiction.
• Program, test, and commission fire alarm systems.
• Provide technical mentoring and teach construction plan reading and general construction practices.

Required Experience

• At least 3 years of fire alarm design or directly related field experience.
• AutoCAD experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• NICET certification is strongly preferred.
• An associate degree is preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong organization, communication, time management, safety awareness, and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
• Reliable attendance, deadline performance, and willingness to work overtime or weekends when required.
