Field Engineer MEC Transportation

Job Summary

Mass Electric Transportation is hiring an entry-level Field Engineer to support field and office engineering activities on major transportation and infrastructure projects. The role is based in Dallas for recruiting purposes, with project assignment locations determined closer to the start date.

Project Details

MEC delivers transit and rail systems throughout North America, including light rail, overhead contact systems, traction power substations, signaling, train control, communications, control centers, and data-center work.

Responsibilities

• Interpret construction documents, develop work plans, coordinate materials and equipment, and assist with field inspections.
• Complete drawing takeoffs, support change-order pricing, prepare submittals, and monitor field and office performance.
• Assist with project controls, purchasing, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, billing, and progress estimates.
• Participate in project meetings and potentially lead small-project or discipline activities.
• Support superintendents and field crews while promoting safe, quality construction operations.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil, electrical, mechanical, industrial engineering, or a related field.
• Zero to three years of construction experience is expected; infrastructure or heavy civil experience is preferred.
• Leadership experience, strong communication and organizational skills, initiative, accountability, and a commitment to safety are required.
• Must be able to access construction sites in varied environments, work overtime or nonstandard hours, and hold a valid driver’s license.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $79,000-$87,000 per year. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, wellness, employee assistance, life and disability insurance, retirement matching, and paid time off.
