Field Engineer 1 Northwest (Heavy Civil)

Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking an entry-level Field Engineer to support heavy civil construction operations and develop experience across field engineering, office engineering, and estimating functions.

Project Details

The Northwest District delivers transportation and heavy civil work including earthmoving, roadways, water resources, and underground utilities. Assignments may be located across the western United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.

Responsibilities

• Interpret plans and specifications, calculate installed quantities, and support surveying, layout, and as-built documentation.
• Prepare work plans, job hazard analyses, daily records, RFIs, submittals, and project correspondence.
• Coordinate materials, work groups, subcontractors, schedules, and field operations.
• Support safety meetings, inspections, training, cost tracking, purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders.
• Assist with bid reviews, plan and specification analysis, production data, and material quantity takeoffs.

Required Experience

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, construction management, mining, geotechnical, or another construction-related engineering field.
• Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 and a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work on active construction sites in varied climates and conditions.
• Willingness to travel, relocate, and work rotating schedules, shifts, overtime, and weekends as project needs require.
• Strong communication, organization, initiative, safety awareness, and ability to work independently or on a team.
• Previous internship experience is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Base compensation is $79,000-$87,000 per year. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, and vision coverage, wellness and employee assistance programs, life and disability insurance, retirement plans with matching, and paid time off.
