Civil/Transmission Line Engineer - Kiewit Power Engineering

Job Summary

Kiewit Power Engineering is seeking an early-career Civil/Transmission Line Engineer for its Houston design engineering team. The role supports transmission, distribution, and substation work while developing technical design expertise on engineering and EPC projects.

Project Details

Projects include power delivery systems ranging from 12kV to 500kV, with work spanning transmission line, substation, and distribution design for clients across the United States.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project teams to define scope, prepare design deliverables, and communicate project updates.
• Develop transmission line design criteria and model poles, towers, and lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS TOWER.
• Prepare construction assembly drawings, material specifications, structure loading packages, plan and profile drawings, phasing plans, and installation specifications.
• Support internal and external meetings and travel periodically for project assignments.

Required Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Entry-level experience through two years in civil, transmission, or transmission line engineering.
• Knowledge of overhead transmission route planning, structure spotting, and line design is preferred.
• Experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS TOWER, FAD Tools, or LPILE is preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively, meet deadlines, follow safety procedures, and work overtime or weekends when required.
