Job Summary

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers is seeking a mid- to senior-level Civil Roadway Engineer for its transportation design team in Raleigh, North Carolina, with an alternate office location in Westlake, Texas. The engineer will support construction-focused infrastructure design and alternative delivery projects.

Project Details

The role supports highway, roadway, rail, drainage, and related transportation infrastructure projects through integrated design and construction coordination. The position is office-based rather than remote, with travel opportunities to project offices and active work sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead roadway and civil design assignments, including preliminary concepts, alternatives, geometrics, plans, and wall plan-and-profile sheets.
• Develop and oversee surface models using OpenRoads, Civil 3D, and related platforms.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities and lead technical meetings to resolve project issues.
• Establish design criteria, monitor contractual compliance, and implement project QA/QC procedures.
• Mentor junior engineers and support team performance and professional development.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and active Professional Engineer registration.
• At least five years of civil or highway design experience, preferably on design-build or other alternative delivery projects.
• Experience with transportation infrastructure such as highways, civil works, rail, or comparable projects.
• Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related design and modeling software.
• Ability to prepare construction plans, technical memoranda, presentations, and complete design packages.
• Experience with AI agents and tools is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits
